Old Oak Cottages are nestled in a charming rural setting just outside the picturesque village of Little Thirkleby, situated on the edge of the North York Moors with breathtaking views over the unspoilt countryside, including the iconic White Horse of Kilburn.
This delightful group of eight luxury holiday cottages has been thoughtfully transformed from barns, stables, and an old potato store, preserving many of their original features. Each cottage offers the highest standards of comfort and design, with a strong commitment to maintenance and housekeeping that ensures a superior experience for our guests.

Guests at Old Oak Cottages enjoy exclusive access to our exceptional indoor heated pool and spa bath, as well as an all-weather tennis court. This peaceful retreat is surrounded by 400 acres of well-maintained farmland, offering scenic walks and a tranquil duck pond.
For families, the large fenced play and picnic area features climbing frames, swings, slides, football nets, a play fort, a trampoline, and a separate play area for toddlers.
With the gateway to the North York Moors National Park to the east and the Yorkshire Dales National Park to the west, Old Oak Cottages are ideally situated for a memorable holiday. There are countless attractions to suit all ages and interests within easy driving distance.
The bustling town of Thirsk, just four miles away, boasts a quaint cobbled marketplace, splendid Georgian buildings, and an array of independent shops alongside a few well-known high street names. You'll also find butchers, bakers, a wide selection of restaurants and takeaways, and several supermarkets.
Thirsk is home to a cinema and The World of James Herriot Museum, dedicated to the life and works of the town’s own famous vet and author. You can also explore the beautiful surrounding countryside and Hambleton Hills directly from the cottages, which offer excellent walking and cycling opportunities.
The cathedral city of York, the stunning East Coast, and the Yorkshire Dales are all within easy reach, perfect for an enjoyable day out.

The whole visit exceeded our expectations. It was the perfect stay for our family, with a dog and a toddler. We were blown away by the facilities and pool and outdoor play area. We were equally cosy in the cottage for times we wanted to relax. Looking forward to planning another trip back. Thank you.

This is the third time we have stayed here; it’s a beautiful place. We love it here, and so will you. The cottages are of a high standard: clean, comfortable, and in a great location. There’s so much to do locally—you’ll never be bored. It’s definitely God’s Own County.

This was our second visit to Old Oak Cottages, and this time we had our daughter, her partner, and grandson with us. The larger cottage was very suitable and comfortable for us all, with marvellous views over the surrounding countryside. The location is excellent for exploring North Yorkshire, with supermarkets, etc., conveniently located in nearby Thirsk. We had a lovely week in peaceful surroundings, and grandson Robin enjoyed the play areas and swimming pool!

A lovely, comfortable, well-equipped cottage for a memorable and relaxing week in Yorkshire. This is our second stay—our first in Fox. Lovely views of the hills and the White Horse. Peaceful location, but not far from many places to visit. 30 minutes from York park-and-ride. Nunnington Hall and Beningbrough Hall are worth a visit. We really enjoyed our daily swim in the pool. Overall, a wonderful week's holiday. Thank you.

Beautiful Cottage, so many thoughtful touches and the facilities for the children have been great, particularly the pool and trampoline which our girls used every day. Location is fantastic for coast and inland and we also ended up in York on a rainy day. We could love to come again.

Thank you for such a lovely and peaceful stay. You have a home away from home here. You have given us everything we could need and more. Our littlest enjoyed her stay, the swimming pool, the park and the tennis court. The animals were also very cute. This is a wonderful place to enjoy Yorkshire. This is a 'must' place and we plan to come back , 7 days went far too quickly! Thank you.
