Our Cottage in France
A most adorable country cottage .... We have
recently acquired a lovely three bedroom/2 bathroom cottage in the Dordogne
Valley, France. The house is situated in a vibrant village called Issigeac,
which is a large Medieval Bastide village, incredibly pretty and only 15 mins
drive South from Bergerac City and Airport - Ryanair, Jet 2 and Flybe all have
regular flights to and from the UK. Other airport options are Bordeaux and Brive
and with TGV Train Links and Motorway networks not too far away, make the
Dordogne easy to get around.
The house comprises of:-
3 large bedrooms on two floors - 1 x
King and 1 x Single on the first floor plus bathroom with shower.
1 Double and 1 bathroom with shower on the second floor.
On the Ground Floor there is a lovely
large Living Room with Kitchen/Dining off the Living Room and French
Doors leading out onto a really nice Patio and Garden which looks out
onto open fields and is a haven for birds and wildlife.
The whole house is very bright and
airy with large shuttered windows. It has been fully renovated and has
every modern convenience, yet still retains the old charm of mellow
stone walls, beams and wooden flooring. The house is very well equipped
with Dishwasher/Microwave/Fridge/Freezer/Washing Machine/TV with English
Channels and Wi-Fi. It is furnished to the very
high standards we have at Old Oak Cottages, making your stay in France a
Issigeac village has a choice of
excellent restaurants, bars and tea-rooms, 2 small supermarkets,
tempting patisseries, 2 butchers, newsagents, English speaking pharmacy,
doctor, bank, together with a selection of individual shops and
boutiques. There is even a nail bar and hairdressers should you want a
bit of pampering! For the more energetic there are two tennis courts, a
children's play area and a boules pitch. All these facilities are within
a short easy stroll from the house - just perfect for getting the
croissants and bread in the morning! On a Sunday the village has a huge
market extending into most of the streets, offering countless
temptations - not to be missed!
There are many, many interesting
places to visit and things to do within a short drive - too many to
mention. Issigeac is situated amongst glorious rolling countryside and
vineyards - perfect for walking, cycling, riding, golf and of course
finding that perfect little vineyard for wine-tasting! The house is an
ideal starting point for days out, exploring the outstanding medieval
castles and villages and all that the Dordogne has to offer. There is an
outdoor swimming pool in the next town - Castilionnes (10 min drive) and
a fantastic lake at Chateaux de Lanquais (also 10 mins) with beach,
pedaloes, boats, cafe etc. There are also many activities along the
Dordogne river, which are all extremely handy.

note to thank you for our stay at your lovely house! We had such a
relaxing time and the children as well as I loved the house. So nicely
decorated, very homely, and brilliantly located. We loved being able to
walk into the village for coffee and a game of cards as well as the
Sunday market which is fab and we got to enjoy one of their great
Medieval Fairs and the feast which was really worth it. Two weeks flew
by and despite having teenagers we found lots to entertain ourselves
with. I recommend the tennis courts in the village (there is a time
table at the little hut and you just put your name down) as well as the
Karting at Bergerac! Many thanks, The Evans Edinburgh.
"I just wanted to say thank you for
such a lovely week.
Our daughter and I really appreciated the decor of your gorgeous cottage
which creates an ambience we really appreciated . We both felt a lot of
thought had gone into the finishing touches and congratulate you and
your husband on thinking of everything.
You have created a beautiful home from home, in such a lovely village in
a stunning part of France!
Thanks again and good luck for the future" The S's August 2014
We have had a
lovely time and the cottage was great. Highlights were our strolls into
the village every evening and taking Daniel to the little park with the
slide! Then, sitting out in the garden enjoying a glass of wine. We
enjoyed swimming in the lake and visiting the Chateau at Lanquais, and
the Sunday market in Issigeac was fabulous. the cottage had everything
we needed, was cool and quiet and felt like home for the week. Thank you
for a lovely holiday. The J's July 2014.
